To create a sustainable community, I believe we firstly have to understand what is sustainable. Sustainable can be told in a way to reduce excessiveness or also reduce energy waste.

There is this article I read today its call the “Consumer Stuff”. They provide information about environmental and sustainability issues concerning consumers, including buying ‘green’, the real cost of food, smarter transport options, and the consuming culture.

I read one of this topic called, “Buy ‘green’, save money”. The overview for this topic is to allow student able to explore the costs and benefits of being a ‘green consumer’, and learn how to select environmentally friendly products and energy efficient home.

Energy saving helps to maintain the sustainable manner, to reduce, re-use and recycle enable to reduce production is also equalize to energy saving.

This article also taught the readers how to start saving and from making records on our daily usage such as utility use and food planner, can also tell us how to save, to summarise, making record can alert us what we have waste.

There is actually a lot of benefit on ‘going green’, using energy efficiently can reduce the energy bills and environmental impacts. Consumers can often choose the wrong option, both for their financial and environment, because they have not had all the information they needed before making a purchase.

I think being a wise ‘go green’ consumer there is a lot of knowledge we should lay hands on and start to understand the information. Such as getting to know the label and symbol of the information can make our life easy on recycling. When the knowledge have been well practice, then it is much more easy to succeed sustainable community.

Build that knowledge and confidence.

When my group was sorting out information for our presentation, I figure out some question “Maybe we can work on things that are related to contemporary!”

We were asked to talk and navigate our presentation into 3 sentences:
What is it about?
What are you going to do?
Why?

We understand that environmental issue has been around since 200 years ago, and yet there’s no one tries to do or actively involve into this topic. My idea is to learn information on contemporary science and find out is there any new invention that helps to build up a recycle (sustainable) future.

What is recycle? A simple definition for recycle is something that allows us to reuse the resource.

Science is so much involve with making or to enable resources to be reuse.

Everyday activity involve with using nature resource such as water, petrol, oil, gas etc. When there are people using there will be people wasting. This will reduce the resource that the earth able to provide, by the end of the day we realise there won’t be any remain for our future.

Educating the future about the contemporary science able to allow them to understand the method of reuse, it also able to build a confident to consumer in using sustainable development.

Why am I saying this is because I believe, there is technology that help us to improve the environment, it’s only about how people react on using the technology. To convey the information to the audience able to build their confident.

What kind of information?

After the group discussion we had on Wednesday,
we drop out some pre-question, wish that this can lead us to a depth understanding.

My question is ‘What kind of information should be understand?’

I have done some reading on Earth Charter. In the article, basically it has most introductions on what is Earth Charter.
In the following article, I have highlighted some terms or words that allows me to suspend my thoughts on this topic.

Sustainable community?
Sustainable development?
Examine our value?
Ethical vision?
Contemporary science?
Initiative.

From those terms and words, I have several questions:

How important to create a sustainable community? By creating this community will it allow or to improve the earth’s condition? Will sustainable development help recycling? Will it influence the quality of consuming?

Everyone knows that the earth have change during this years and last year several weather changing and odd phenomena and alert us that the earth is encountering global warming. Via this issue will we understand and really alert against the value and important of building a sustainable society?

What kind of improvement helps the earth exclude sustainable development?

I think other then trying to create sustainable products, people should be alert and take the initiative to start off. For example: there’s once when I was in the supermarket, I want to get some toilet paper, I saw this range of sustainable toilet product, when I want to give a try to those environmental friendly product, my friend speak out a question, ‘ is it good?’

That makes me realise that people are still having doubt to sustainable products, if people have this thought, will we be able to succeed in building a sustainable future?
